Is this all there is to life? If not, do our present actions affect our future existence? You can know the truth about your existence and be very confident in that knowledge.
About 103 Billion people (estimates range from 90 to 116 Billion) have lived on earth and in 2009 about 6.7 Billion people inhabit planet earth. Thus, about 6.5% of the people who have ever lived are alive on earth today. Are the rest, about 96.3 Billion out of existence or still in existence? The one certainty of our existence is death and it is the reason you should find out the meaning of your existence. It might be very important. There seems to be a very strong belief that no one knows the truth and in fact, that it is unknowable. The curves below are for reference and provide some interesting information regarding our existence. The subject of population is also linked from the navigation bar, "Truth In Religion" where worldwide religious population distributions are discussed. Although 98% of the material at this site deals with the purpose of man's existence some associated things like population point to the enormity of getting it right.
Can I truly understand my purpose and the purpose of all humankind and then, if necessary how to be successful? Why do not all people understand the meaning of their existence?
Yes, you absolutely can understand the purpose for your existence. The most significant reason few understand life's meaning is the long history of religious deception. That history of deception has resulted in the formation of hundreds of conflicting religions. Today it must seem too complicated to unravel and most people do not even know there is a problem. We suffer today economically as the result of many greedy, selfish persons but religiously we remain in the dark because of a history of self-serving people but in the religious case, we are often not aware of the peril.
The Truth
The truth is not complicated but what we have as commonplace today is extremely complex and problematic. I am strongly suggesting you can know the truth about existence in a very evidential way. One of the most significant reasons you may not know it is because of religion. You may be an atheist or agnostic but religion has influenced you to be of those beliefs.
Convincing Arguments
There are convincing arguments for every doctrine and frequently even the most inconceivable or bizarre teachings can provide convincing arguments. Yet by following a few simple rules it can be relatively easy to distinguish truth. Nonetheless,this can be a considerable challenge, more so if you have been efficiently indoctrinated. There are also many other types of barriers standing between you and the truth. Religion has certainly constructed many of these obstructions but some are very personal. Many who passionately believe they have the truth have been effectively mislead. Strangely, “born again Christians” are among the most certain of their belief and yet one of the most clearly deceived.
Evidence
You should not believe anything religiously without evidence. Indeed the evidence provided in this material will vary from undeniable to just the apparent logical conclusion from good information, data. In the end, the reason you will be convinced of life’s purpose is simply that EVERYTHING fits, holds together and makes perfect sense. There is an enormous difference between truth and error.
Faith
There is an essential element of faith but never blind faith. I am just another person you should not believe. I honestly think this material provides the correct understanding of life. Yet your faith must not be in any person. There is truth, there is error, and you can make good judgments simply by having a good heart and a love of the truth.
Obstacles to Truth
We often do not have the truth because we live in a world confused by religion, media and our strong desire to possess so much of what seems delightful. The subject of life’s purpose is near the last thing that will receive our attention. This material provides help in overcoming obstacles that might be keeping you from the truth. One very general, significant obstacle in today's world is simply the popular belief that no one possesses the truth.
Humanism
Today our society is very humanistic. Indeed most of religion closely examined is also humanistic in that their concerns for a person’s feelings dominate over spiritual issues. Therefore, there is a strong focus on activities, support programs relative to resolving, satisfying human problems. So a church home can be very fulfilling, very beneficial in meeting the social needs of its members. In a sense, religion has come full circle over the last 2000 years changing from a small truth and spiritually focused local church to a hierarchical, rule making, paranoid, cruel organization to creature comfort facilities with rules to satisfy the members. Now is that what life is all about? Do today’s religions provide physical but not spiritual solutions? Spiritual solutions are truthful solutions if they have any meaning. Thus, religion provides a social service and actually, in that context many, many people are more comfortable with “social” religion. Many substantial religions like Buddhism and Islam are much more demanding yet generate tremendous dedication despite the limitations on their members. The truth about life brings clarification to the many complexities we see in religion.
Commitment
I promise you this material is not the product of some religious zealot with all the associated ramblings but of someone interested in finding the truth about life and then helping others. I do not mean helping others to believe as I do but to understand the long history of deception while presenting something that makes “perfect” sense and provides tremendous value. In addition to this website, there is a new book titled, “What Is Life All About?” which extensively, systematically provides the truth about life. Eventually, I will provide much of that information on this website. If you look at the "Meaning of Life" navigation bar, there is detailed information regarding the book such as the table of contents and some portion of various chapters. This book covers a great deal of material but I will be diligent to make much of that information available on this site albeit necessarily in a somewhat different format.
Expounding on the promise
I promised not be fanatical but honest, fair, logical but I also promise there will be many things that will surprise you, even profoundly amaze you and most importantly can assist you in having a successful end to your life which translates to a successful beginning to your next life. Yet you may not even believe there is anything after this life – just nothing, it is all over. I most humbly suggest you may not remain in that position if you have an open mind and indeed desire THE TRUTH about life. It would be unfair of me be closed-minded so I am ready to admit I was wrong on this or that. It is the necessary essence of a truth seeker.
Atheists and Agnostics
The following quotes represent some of the many famous people who have supported Atheism and/or Agnosticism. I randomly selected a few. Some were solid devotees of Atheism while others were uncertain or lacking evidence and prefer the title Agnostic.
From the extreme Atheist to the moderates there is a common thread among Atheists and Agnostics. They were angry at religion and in general, a great deal of their anger would appear to be reasonable.
Root Cause Analysis of Religious History
"What Is Life is All About?" does something that potentially could have changed the view of many who advocated these “no-God” positions. One reason this may be possible is very simply these individuals or groups did not do a root cause analysis on the subject of religion. You can see from some their quotes (and I have read hundreds of similar quotes) that there is a critical emphasis on certain vicious actions of religious groups in terms of cruelty, supremacy, ridiculous doctrines, mysticism, complication and just many disturbing practices. Also in the other direction the beauty and simplicity of the truth was seldom if ever taught except in a weak, superficial and secondary manner.
What many atheists, agnostics and many others have missed
Your conclusions can be no better than your assumptions and certain of the Atheist, Agnostic fundamental assumptions are incorrect. One of the important incorrect assumptions was thinking the things they observed regarding religion had something to do with God. As I have read the life’s of many of the "famous" Atheists and Agnostics there is an amazing desire to find that God does exist but there were all these obstacles and again the most significant ones were religious behavior, the rules of God, the severity of God and for many scientists there was not sufficient scientific evidence. You will see in many cases there is not much difference in atheists, agnostics and many of the people claiming allegiance to God.
